Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) sacked Vice Chancellor, Prof John Ntambirweki.
BY OUR REPORTER.
Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) Board of Directors has sacked the Vice Chancellor, Prof John Ntambirweki.
In a September 2 letter to Prof Ntambirweki signed by Mr Nester Byamugisha, the vice chairperson Board of Governors UPU, the Board of Directors UPU at its meeting held at UPU Kampala Study Centre Rubaga on September 1, unanimously resolved that Prof Ntabirweki’s contract with the university be terminated with immediate effect. Prof Ntambirweki has been VC for 10 years.
The board stated 17 grounds for his sacking among them lack of respect for the board, other organs and staff members of the university, insubordination and usurping the powers of other organs of the university.
The others are Prof Ntambirweki’s alleged failure to present university status report, wrongful refusal to issue graduation certificates, total failure to give accountabilities with regard to the state of the university, threatening violence and death to staff and various board members.
But when contacted Prof Ntambirweki dismissed the claims, saying he is still in office. “They are lying. I am still in my office. I chat with my students every day,” he told Daily Monitor on phone yesterday.
Addressing journalists on Monday at the UPU Fort Portal campus at Kahungabunyonyi, Mr Balikudembe Kijeru, the board chairperson said Prof Ntambirweki’s indiscipline and irresponsible behaviour resulted in failure to promote and preserve the good name and image of the university.
He maintained yesterday when contacted that the professor has been dismissed.
“He may claim he is in office but the board which owns the university has dismissed him.”
