Seven suspects alleged to threaten Mukurweine CDF chairman in a corruption haul will remain in custody two more days.

This is to enable police to finalize their investigations.

“After considering submissions by both the investigating officer and the respondents lawyer I hereby grant the investigation officer 48hours to enable him complete investigations on the said matter” Resident Magistrate Mirriam Mugure ruled.

The seven are accused of threatening the CDF chairman after he reported corruptions cartels in Mukurweini, Nyeri County.

Isaac Wamugunda Kariuki, Salome kabita, Stephen Muchiri, Bernard Muchiri,Gifts Mwai, Edward Muthe and Stephen Chomba appeared before court and were remanded for two days to allow further investigations.

The first to fifth suspect were arrested by flying squad officers on February 4, 2016 at Kimbingoti area within Kirinyaga County, The sixth and seventh were arrested at Shauri Moyo in Nairobi.

The prosecution said that the eight are suspected to have committed the offence of conspiracy to murder and the applicants investigations are incomplete and require more time.

The prosecutor added that the suspects are yet to disclose any information concerning the matter.

Ms Mugure directed that they remain at Pangani Police Station for if released may hamper investigations.

The matter will be mentioned on Wednesday to confirm compliance.
