A taskforce appointed by President Kenyatta last week to investigate the conduct of Supreme Court Judge Philip Tunoi has been sworn in today by Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga.

The seven member team which will be headed by retired Judge Jonathan Havelock is tasked to investigate the conduct of Justice Tunoi, who is alleged to have received a Sh200 million bribe fromNairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero to rule in his favour in an election petition filed by now Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu,.

Other members in the tribunal include Judge Roselyn Korir, Ms Judith Guserwa, Mr James Kaberere Gachoka, Mr Abdirashid Abdullahi Hussein, Mr George Munji Wakukha and the Judge and Magistrate Vetting Board Chairperson Sharad Rao.

Mr. Rao who had earlier been named by President Kenyatta to chair the tribunal was on Monday dropped and replaced with retired judge Havelock after.

This is after the Law Society of Kenya raised concern over his appointment arguing that Mr Rao has never been a judge of a superior court.

Article 168 (5) state that the tribunal should consist of a chairperson and three other members from among persons who hold or have held office as judges of a superior court.

The tribunal whose work will commence tomorrow is expected to table its finding(s) to the President once it completes its investigations.
