Anthony Wahome Kamunyi from the Firearms Licensing Board has been charged at Kibera Law courts with five counts of obtaining credit by false pretenses contrary to law.

The court heard that on November 3, 2015 at Conference and Travel Logistics Limited Offices at Silver pool suites along Jabavu lane in Kilimani within Nairobi County, Wahome Obtained Credit to return air ticket number 1259394527410 valued at USD 28,145 from the Conferences at Travel Logistics Limited by falsely pretending that he was in a position to pay for it a fact he knew to be false.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate Anne Ong’injo and denied the charges. The defense requested for a favorable bond term claiming that the accused has been cooperating with the police saying that he will abide by conditions given by the court.

He further told the court that he had paid Sh1.5 Million to the complainant and asked the court to consider that when granting him bond.

However, the prosecution dismissed Wahome’s allegations saying that they were not aware of any money that had been paid to the complainant. They asked the court consider the amount of money that the accused is alleged to have obtained when granting bond.

Ong’injo in her ruling ordered him to pay a Sh1 M Bond and a surety of the same amount or deposit a Sh500,000 cash bail to secure his release.

The case will be mentioned on May 13 for fixing of a hearing date.
