Kenya will send ten companies to the New York NOW 2016 Show in August, under the Artisan resource, a section of the Handmade Collection.

The participants will be chosen at the end of an exhibition forum in Nairobi.

The winning products will also be showcased during Test marketing events in Dar es Salaam, Rwanda and New York Now.

The venture according to EPC will empower SMEs to their full potential as equal partners in export development.

EPC Chairman Jas Bedi said that the challenges facing entrepreneurs in Kenya are lack of knowledge and skills on export processes, market opportunities and access; and development of quality products.

The exhibitors will be selected to showcase their newly developed products of textiles, apparels and accessories based on their production capabilities and commitment to design innovation, cultural preservation, social enterprise and sustainability.
