BY THOMAS KARIUKI.

Deputy President William Ruto has been sued by a woman he sired a child with in Eldoret in 2006 in his heydays as an MP.

The mother of 10-year-old baby told the court that Sometimes in the year 2005, while she was still a student at Moi University, she met the Deputy President who then was a Member of Parliament for Eldoret North Constituency and they became friends.

During their relationship and whenever he was in Eldoret, the DP she says would invite her to his residence in Eldoret where they would spend a ‘quality’ night with him.

Out of the relationship, they were blessed with a lovely daughter born on March 6 2006 at Mediheal Hospital.

“After the birth of our daughter the Defendant assumed parental responsibility for the daughter and the maintenance of both myself and our daughter,” she told court.

Through her lawyer, SC Gitobu Imanyara, defendant  says that after becoming the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, DP Ruto stopped sending them any money or sends only when she threaten to go to court.

Mr Imanyara told the court that when the Deputy President sends money, it is irregular and wholly inadequate.

Ms told the court, “I am currently struggling to educate the child single handedly despite the fact that the Defendant, as the Deputy President, is a man of means who is able to provide for his daughter with a decent house, quality education and healthcare, clothes as well food.”

She said that unless DP Ruto is compelled by the court to maintain the child, her baby will continue being subjected to un-necessary suffering due to lack of the most basic necessities to which she is entitled from her parents.

Her Lawyer SC Imanyara told the court that despite him writing to the Deputy President severally, he has persisted in his refusal, neglect and/or failure to support his daughter.
