Controversial businessman who is also vying for Meru County Senatorial sit Paul Kobia and four other people have been freed on a cash bail of 100,000 shillings each or a bond of Two hundred thousand shillings.
They are accused to have abducted and assaulted a Congolese national.
The five were released after the Milimani Resident Magistrate Miriam Mugure declined an application by the Prosecution to have them detained for 14 days to allow police conclude investigations.
Mugure directed the suspects to be reporting to Kilimani Police station for 3 days and cooperate with the police in the investigations.
The other four suspects arraigned in court alongside Kobia are Alvin Anzaya, Nelson Moyi, John Mutwiri and Martin Mwangi.
Affidavit presented in court by Investigating officer Mark Ntoja states that the complainant in the case suffered serious injuries and is currently admitted at hospital.
“The complainant and key witnesses are yet to record statement,”prosecution said.
The court heard that that the suspects were arrested by officers in Kilimani police station today early morning at Muzima springs within Kileleshwa.
The prosecution said that the investigations against the five are complex and incomplete hence requires more time to pursue all leads.
According to the prosecution the five accused persons actively participated in kidnapping Blanchard Condole from Bodson Spa and Lounge located in Kindaruma road.
It is alleged that the five unlawful used firearms.
They will be charged with abduction, assault and misuse of firearms.
