The Kenya Magistrates and Judges Association (KMJA), are demanding security for Magistrate after Kwale Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo hijacked by unknown people next to Diani Shopping Centre in Kwale County yesterday.
KMJA Secretary General Derrick Kuto has also strongly condemned attack on his judicial counterpart.
“As KMJA, we condemn the incident in the strongest terms possible” said Kutto.
The association has asked the police -relevant officers to immediately engage the judiciary to ensure the security of all judges,magistrates and kadhis.
They have condemned the attack and hijacking of magistrate Doreen Mulekyo
The attack comes weeks after Deputy Chief Justice was attacked.
Kitto says that Mulekyo is safe but traumatized.
“There’s need to secure all these people working in the judiciary” said Kutto.
She was not harmed but she managed to jump out of the vehicle
As KMJA we wish to condemn the incident inthe strongest terms possible.
“Our duties are generally sensitive and such cowardly acts will not dissuade us from boldly dispensing our judicial duties Wanjiku as per the law established.
The kwale chief magistrate Doreen Mulekyo was attacked by unknown people” said Kutto.
The incident was reported at Diani police Station.
Magistrate are not given security like judges and they urging the government to consider and allocate them bodyguards.
High Court judge Jackline Kamau said Magistrate are handling sensitive cases and they require bodyguards.
