A businessman has been charged in court in connection with offering fake laptops tender under the office of the Deputy President.

Daddy Awiti is accused that between I June and 12th August 2018 at Nairobi city Centre with other not before the court with intent to defraud by means of offering tender documents under the name of office of Deputy Presidents he falsely pretended that he was carrying out a genuine tender business and that he was able to deliver 2,800 pieces of HP laptops valued at 180,000,000 shillings to the office of the deputy president a fact he knew to be false.

He faces a second court of obtaining laptops by false pretense.

It is alleged that he willfully and unlawfully obtained 2,800 laptops valued at 180,000,000 shillings the property Makidu motors Limited Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

The accused person appeared before senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku and pleaded not guilty to the two criminal counts.

He was released on a Bond 5million shillings and cash bail 3 million shillings.
The case will be Mention on August 22 this year for pretrial.

The prosecution allege that the accused committed the offence between June and 1 August 2018 within Nairobi County.
