A man has been charged charged with falsely obtaining over Sh2.2 million from a woman by pretending that he would sell her a market stall at the New Wakulima Market.

Anthony Kimathi Kiria appeared before Milimani Magistrate Martha Nazushi and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kimathi is accused that on diverse dates between September and December 2018 at Nairobi city county, with intent to defraud, he obtained Sh2,228,000 from Spence Diana Lumumba.

The court that he claimed l that he could sell her a market stall at the New Wakulima market along Kang’undo road.

The court further heard that with intent to defraud and without lawful authority, Kimathi made fake booking receipts for the new market, purporting it to be genuine from the county’s revenue office.

Kimathi is also charged with making false documents without authority.

He was released on a bond of Sh1 million or alternative cash bail of Sh700,000 pending hearing and determination of his case.
