An Indian man nabbed by police with a ceska pistol, military smoke jacket, white bullet proof vest among other items has been released on a cash bail of 1 million pending completion of investigations.

Hirji Ramji Patel was released after the court declined to grant police seven days to detain him, pending completion of investigation into alleged extortion and being in possession of drugs.

The court heard that the suspect is a principal offender and upon completion of the investigations he is likely to be charged with extortion among other offences.

Investigating officer corporal Lawrence Irungu told the court that the matter was investigated and Director of Public Prosecution recommended that Patel be charged with attempted extortion.

“Due to the nature of the complaint presented, I have information that the accused person has influence from his associates and his influence and capability may interfere with witnesses, with one of the state witnesses being a single mother of two kids,” the officers submitted.
