A Nairobi court will next Monday decide whether a businessman accused of illegally reconnecting electricity will plead to the charges.

Abdullahi Sheikh Mohamed is accused of illegally reconnecting electricity after failing to settle a bill of over Sh6.6 million.

But Mohamed filed an application opposing the charges. Milimani senior principal magistrate Bernard Ochoi reserved the ruling for next week.

The charges stated that on diverse dates between August 28 and September 17 this year at Green Valley market limited in Nairobi’s South C estate, without lawful right, connected or permitted to be connected a service cable for electricity meter.

This was after the power was disconnected due to non-payment of a bill of Sh 6,697,459.57. The reconnection was done without consent of Kenya Power and Lighting Company.

Mohamed is also accused that between September 7 and 17 this year at Green Valley market limited in South C, without lawful authority, tampered with three seals of two meter numbers which had been placed on the meter board in the premises which houses the said company without authority of the licencee.
