FOUR DENY RECEIVING SUSPECTED PROCEEDS OF CRIME FROM SOUTH AFRICA.

Four people have been charged in court with acquisition of proceeds of crime amounting to over Sh55 million.

Warsame Abdi Aden, Adan Noor Mohamed, Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud and Mohamed Hussein Nur appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot and denied the charge.

Prosecution told the court that on diverse dates between January 1 and August 31 last year at unknown police in the country, the four jointly with others not before court, knowingly received Sh55,949,248 suspected to be proceeds of crime.

The funds were allegedly sent by an unidentified person from South Africa through various M-pesa numbers.

They were released on a bond Sh1 million pending hearing and determination of their criminal case.
