Two people have been charged before a Nairobi court with obtaining Sh2.5 million from a businessman claiming they had won a tender to supply PPEs to Equity foundation.

Albert Awour Odero and Lilian Awour Atho appeared before Milimani Magistrate Zainab Abdul and pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The court heard that on June 24 last year, at Standard chartered bank- Moi Avenue branch within Nairobi County, the duo jointly obtained Sh2.5 million from Alex Lois Omondi Omollo.

The court heard that they falsely pretended to have won a tender to supply Equity Group Foundation with personal protective equipment (PPEs), including face masks from Hungary, while aware that it was false.

The court released them on a cash bail Sh500, 000 pending hearing and determination of the Criminal case.
