DIRECTORS OF LOGISTICS COMPANY DENY DEFRAUDING KRA MILLIONS.

Two directors of Remarc logistics limited have been charged with making false entries to deny the government revenue.

Rodgers Otieno Odhiambo, Moses Thure Odhiambo and their company Remarc Logistics limited appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied all the charges.

Victor Olingo Odhiambo, who is the first accused person, was not presented in court to plead to the charges as he is allegedly out of the country.

The charges stated that the four and the logistics company, being directors of Remarc, being clearing agents of Park-n-go limited, they unlawfully lodged false duty payment on clearance, by declaring lower value invoices with an intent to lower liability without the knowledge of Park-n-go limited hence defrauding the commissioner of customs Sh5,257,745.

They allegedly committed the offence on July 6, 2017 in Nairobi.

The prosecution also told the court that the three directors and the company, jointly and unlawfully removed un-customed goods from customs area without payment of duty and without knowledge of Park-n-go limited hence defrauding the commissioner of customs Sh1,860,166.

The prosecution further said Olingo, Otieno, Thure and Remarc logistics, were jointly and knowingly concerned in the fraudulent evasion of payment of duty by lodging entries with lower value invoices with intent to lower liability without the knowledge of Park-n-go limited hence defrauding the commissioner of customs Sh. 12,544, 635.

They allegedly committed the offence on diverse dates between January and July in the year 2019 being a clearing agent appointed by Park-n-go limited to clear on behalf.

They are facing several similar charges where the commissioner of customs lost several millions.

The accused were released on a bond of Sh500,000 and Sh200,000.
