A legal manager at a state corporation has been charged before Milimani Anti-Corruption Court with receiving Sh3.5 million bribe.

Ahmed Ngaira Rashid appeared before Anti-Corruption chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti and denied three counts of receiving bribe.

Ngaira is accused that on May 3 last year at Galleria Shopping Mall within Nairobi County being the legal manager at Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) requested for a financial advantage of Sh3.5 million from Nancy Kavinya Kioko.

The court heard that he requested the bribe to allegedly influence the writing off of a loan of Sh10 million Nancy had taken at AFC.

The prosecution told the court that Ngaira received Sh300,000 and USD 200 as part of the bribe. It is alleged that he received the money on May 20 last year at Kenol Gas station in Langata.

The court asked Ngaira to deposit a bond of Sh1.5 million or cash bail of Sh350,000, to secure his release. He was also barred from leaving the country unless authorized by the court.
