MAN, HIS TWO RELATIVES ACCUSED OF STEALING SH176 MILLION.

Three people among them a director of a private firm and his relatives have been charged with stealing over Sh176 million.

James Ndwiga Muchungu, the director of Meridian Acceptance limited, was charged alongside Ian Nyaga Ndwiga and Lisa Mumbi Ndwiga.

The three appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi and denied the charges.

The trio are accused that they conspired to steal the money on diverse dates between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2020 at Meridian Acceptance limited in Nairobi Central Business District within Nairobi city.

Prosecution told the court that on the same dates at Meridian Acceptance ltd, Muchungu being a director of Meridian Acceptance limited stole Sh23, 018, 621, money which came into his possession by virtue of his employment.

Ian Nyaga is accused of stealing Sh20, 836,817 the property of Meridian Acceptance limited, while Mumbi is accused of stealing Sh10.6 million belonging to the company.

The court ordered Muchungu to deposit cash bail of Sh1 million or alternative bond of Sh1.5 million, to secure his release.
Ian and Mumbi were asked to deposit cash of Sh500,000 each.
