Police have arrested a notorious fraudster moments before swindling an innocent buyer of millions for the purchase of an apartment in Nairobi’s Westlands area.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Hussein Kakhuddin Mohammedbhai was about to ink a deal worth millions of shillings before detectives pounced on him.

The fraudster was about to make millions of shillings without breaking a sweat, by selling an apartment in Nairobi’s upmarket Westlands suburbs.

The 3-bedroom all ensuite apartment worth over Sh40 million at the prevailing market rate, was being disposed at a paltry Sh11 Million.

Forensic document examination and handwrting experts based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory, established that Mohammedbhai, had forged a title deed certificate for the property and entered into a deal with a real estate company to dispose the to Sh9 million, in a similar scheme.

Mohammedbhai is currently in custody for the offence of obtaining money by false pretences and shall take plea at the Kiambu Law Courts, on Friday, March 18.
