A city lawyer has been charged together with his client with land fraud.

Lawyer John Kiumi Wambugu and his client Allan Mbugua Njuguna and appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo over accusations of conspiracy to defraud.

Wambugu and his client are accused of conspiring to defraud Bunmax Investments Limited of their land LR 209/8524/129, IR 91699.

It is alleged that the executed land sales agreement dated March 25, 2017 between Bunmax and Farasi Marketing Limited by falsely pretending that the said agreement was genuine and valid and signed by directors of Bunmax.

The court heard that they committed the offence on March 25, 2017 at Wambugu and Muriuki advocates, at Lonrho office in Nairobi.

Njuguna is also charged with personification by presenting himself as a director of Bunmax Inv and that he further forged a land transfer form between the two companies, purporting it to be genuine.

The court also heard that on July 13, 2017 at Ardhi House in Nairobi, he knowingly and fraudulently uttered the forged land transfer form to the Chief Land Registrar purporting it to be genuine and executed by the directors of the two companies.

Njuguna was released on a bond of Sh1 million while Wambugu was granted a cash bail of Sh100,000.
