Two employees of a housing cooperative society have been charged with obtaining county land registration by false pretense.

Elizabeth Wanjiku Mungai and Sarafina Njoki Wanjiku were charged with seven counts of obtaining land registration by false pretense, forgery and stealing by servant.

The court heard that Elizabeth willingly and unlawfully procured a certificate of lease property of Kyanjau housing co-operative society Ltd by falsely pretending to be the proprietor.

It’s alleged that she committed the fraud on November 18, 2015 at Thika lands office in Kiambu County.

The court further heard that on November 24, 2020 while at Directorate of Criminal investigation offices in Mazingira House on Kiambu road, Sarafina falsely informed chief inspector PC Maithiya that she purchased parcel of land at Sh600,000 from Kyanjau Housing co-operative society Ltd, which led to her arrest.

Wanjiku is also accused of forging a signature and stamp impressions of Advocate Karuga Wandai, purporting it to be genuine.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Susan Shitumbi ordered them to post a bond of Sh1 million for Elizabeth and Sh100,000 for Sarafina, to secure their release.
