A man has been charged with stealing two motor vehicles and mortgage fraud.

David Guchu Kinyanjui appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi and denied stealing a Foton lorry valued Sh2.8million from Godfrey Makokha Lutomia.

The charges also state that he stole a Nissan Juke Station wagon valued at 1.4 million from Evelyn Peninah Kamau.

The charge sheet stated that he committed the offence on diverse dates between March 24, 2021 and May 17, 2021 at unknown place within Kenya.

The court further heard that being a mortgager of the two motor vehicles, with intent to induce the Momentum Credit Ltd (the mortgagee) to accept the logbook offered to them, and with intent to defraud, Kinyanjui made a false statement as the logbook of the said motor vehicles.

The charge sheet stated that he committed the offence on diverse dates between 24th March 2021 and 15th December 2021 at unknown time at Momentum Credit Ltd within Nairobi county.

The court heard that the accused willingly procured for himself registration of the two said motor vehicles by falsely pretending that the vehicles belonged to him.

The court ordered him to be released on a cash bail of Sh500,000.
