A businessman has been charged with stealing Sh45 million from Japan Kenya.

James Kithome Kilali appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and denied the charge.

Kithome is accused of stealing the Sh45 million belonging to Japan Kenya held Standard Chartered Bank limited, Two Rivers Branch. He allegedly committed the offence between 22 February and June 11, 2019.

The court ordered him to deposit bond of Sh 5 million or alternative cash bail of Sh3 million, to secure his released.

The complainant was filed by Noriko Shirasu on behalf of Japan Kenya.

The prosecution has listed six witnesses to testify against Kithome in the criminal case.
