A former Chief Executive Officer of famous coffee house Java, has been charged with fraud of Sh3 million.

The South African national Van Hauten Derrick Cornelius Dixon appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Wendy Kagendo and denied obtaining the money by fraud.

Hauten is accused of obtaining the money from Awil Abdirhaman Abdulle, an offence he allegedly committed on various dates between 9th and 30th December, 2021 in Nairobi.

The court heard that he obtained the millions by falsely pretending that he was in a position to franchise a kukit/Java Express business Coffee Shop a fact he knew was false.

According to the police, Abdirhaman approached the then Java CEO where he was interested in Kukito express business.

Hauten allegedly gave him a proposed of franchise price of Sh6,905.000.

Abdirhaman deposited Sh2 million in Hauten bank account and also gave him Sh1 million in cash.

But after making the down payment, the businessman says the former Java boss kept postponing the issue of opening the said Kakito express business.

He filed a complaint at the Central Police station.
