Independent Legal Medical Unit (IMLU) might face legal action over it decision to publish the national Identity Card of the police officer, without his permission.

Police officer Rashid Ahmed has instructed his lawyers to file a petition against non-governmental organisation for publishing his Identification card on their website.

The NGO has been pushing for Ahmed to be charged with the murder of a man in Pangani. The police officer says it is illegal and unlawful to publish his ID card without his permission.

He said through his lawyers Danstan Omari, Wycliffe Omayo and Eastleigh Business community organizing secretary Omar Ahmed he will be filing the suit against the NGO.

The lawyers further revealed that they have filed a petition challenging the decision of the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Hajji, recommending the prosecution of Ahmed for murder.

The lawyers added that evidence which will be used during the prosecution have not been supplied to them.

They include, ballistic report and a video which, allegedly captured the shooting.

Lawyer Omari alleged that civil society groups are fundraising money for their survival from donors using sergeant Rashid case.
