The owner of a club in Thika where former Juja MP George Thuo was last seen alive ten years ago has denied being involved in his murder.

Tearful Porkies Club owner Paul Wainaina told trial judge Roseline Korir that the former MP was a close friend of many years.

While defending himself from the allegation of murdering the former lawmaker, Wainaina said he could not at any given time think of causing harm to him.

“Thuo was my good friend, he was also a regular customer at my club. Before Thuo came to my club he had passed at another restaurant in Kitengela where he took some hot drinks and also passed at his house before proceeding to my place,” said Wainaina.

Wainaina was giving his defence evidence in a case in which he and five others have been accused of murdering the former legislator.

The court had to be adjourned for an hour to allow emotional and tearful to compose himself before being cross-examined by prosecution.

Other accused persons are Christine Lumbazio Andika alias Lumba, Andrew Karanja Wainaina, Samwel Kuria alias Visi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge and Ruth Watahi Irungu alias Atlanta.

They are accused of killing Thuo on November 17, 2013 at Porkies Club in Thika town.
