Former Mungiki leader Maina Njenga and two other people have been charged before a Makadara court with being in possession of weapons.
Njenga was charged together with Peter Kamunya and Felix Lakishe and they denied the charges when they appeared before Makandara Chief Magistrate Francis Kyambia.
The charges stated that they were found in possession of 14 machetes, 24 Maasai swords, 46 rungus and three jembe sticks.
The prosecution claims that the circumstances raised reasonable presumption that the said offensive weapons were intended to be used in a manner prejudicial to public order.
They allegedly committed the offence on July 20, 2023 at Kiserian area within Kajiado County.
The court heard that they were found in possession of the weapons in circumstances that indicated that they were so armed with intent to commit a felony.
The trio were also accused of organizing an unlawful assembly and procession, which was scheduled to take place in Nairobi City County and other parts on July 20.
The three were remanded at Industrial area prison pending a ruling on whether they should be freed on bail.
