Former Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip who has denied fraud charges.

Anuar Loitiptip appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe and denied the charges. 

Loitiptip has been charged that on 3rd August 2022 without authority made a motor vehicle registration certificate purporting it to be a genuine certificate issued by National Transport and Safety Authority. 

He further was charged with obtaining Sh 6,000,000 from Samson Malonza by falsely pretending that he was in a position to sell to him a Toyota Land Cruiser V8 motor vehicle .

The Senator has also been charged that on 3rd August 2022 at kileleshwa knowingly and fraudulently uttered to Samson Malonza a forged motor vehicle registration certificate purporting it to be a genuine registration. 

Loitiptip however told the Court that the allegations of forging the registration certificate is a lie and that there were 8 present witnesses during the sale.

The court also heard that the Senator is bankrupt and pleaded with the court to be lenient with him.

He also told Magistrate Shikwe that the complainant is a very good friend of his and that the vehicle had been sold at a throw away price of Sh 6 Million.

He was released om a cashbail of Sh 700,000. 

The matter will be mentioned on 30th November.
