A man has been charged with conspiring to steal Sh.300,000 from a businessman claiming he was able to inspect gold at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
Obadiah Kipkemoi Langat alias Richard appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi and denied the charges against him.
Kipkemoi is accused of conspiring to steal from Azimagli Serge Amani of Sh 309,000, an offence he allegedly committed jointly with another person who has been charged, on diverse dates between 2nd and 6th August 2024.
The charge sheet stated that he stole from Serge by falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate the inspection of 200 kilograms of gold bars, which had been detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The court released him on a cash bail of Sh. 150,000.
