A businesswoman has been charged with forging a grant title in order to illegally acquire a piece of land worth Sh 50 million.
Evangeline Nyawira Muriuki appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and denied the charge.
Nyawira is alleged to.have made a grant title IR 79416, LR NO. 13726, an offence she allegedly committed on or before 16th May, 2016 at unknown place.
The charge stated that she committed the offence jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud Mary Magdalina Njeri of her parcel of land.
It is alleged that the land that Nyawira had intended to grab the land near Karen Brooks area and measures approximately 0.2024ha, valued approximately at Sh 50,000,000.
The court heard that the accused person made the false grant title with a second entry being a transfer to herself purporting it to be a genuine transfer registered by Edwin Munoko Wafula, the then land registrar at Nairobi land registry.
The woman is facing another charge of uttering a false document through her lawyer Bonface Njiru at the DCI Headquarters to a police officer alleging that the grant title belongs to her.
The court heard that Nyawira defrauded from Moses Oring’o Lang’o of Sh22 Million at Family Bank Ltd, Moi Avenue Branch through her advocate Bonface Njiru’s clients account no. 003000005346 by falsely pretending that she was in a position of selling to him the parcel of land.
She was released on a cashbail of Sh 200,000.
