American citizen has been charged with defrauding a UK citizen of over $1.3 dollars equivalent to Sh223 million in a fake 2820 kilogram gold fraud.
Sergio Patrick Antonucci appeared before Milimani Magistrate Susan shitubi and denied the charges.
Antonucci is alleged to have obtained a sum of $1,271,200 from Tanner Cadwell Cook alleging that he was in a position to facilitate him acquire 2820 kgs of gold.
The charge stated that he committed the offence on diverse dates between 31st March and 30th May, 2024 jointly with others not before court.
The court heard that Antonucci jointly with others not before court is facing another charge of conspiracy to steal $1,271,200.74 from Cadwell by falsely pretending that he was in a position to facilitate the sale of gold.
The police asked the court to deny Antonucci bail arguing that being a foreign national, he is a flight risk.
The court, however, released him on a bond of Sh10 million plus one Kenyan surety.
Antonucci was further ordered to deposit his passport in court, pending pre-trial.
