Two men suspected to have been involved in the murder of British businessman Campbell Scott will be detained for three weeks, pending conclusion of the investigations into the killing.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina allowed application sought by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) seeking to detain Alex Mutua Kithuka and Albanus Muinda Nzioki, for 21 days.

The investigating officer Sergeant Philip Kilonzo told the court that the deceased went missing and his body subsequently found murdered and dumped in Makongo forest along Machakos Wote road.
The officer said the police believed that the two were involved in the heinous act and they were investigating them for the offence of murder contrary to section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code
The court heard on the 16th day of February 2025, Scott Alistair left JW Marriot Hotel and was last seen with unknown African male adult leaving hotel Westlands in Nairobi.
“The deceased left Havanas Club together with the unknown person and boarded an Uber taxi to pipeline area within Nairobi to the 1st respondents’ house,” Sergeant Kilonzo told the court.
Court heard that a dead body was discovered by herder who was grazing his goats at Makongo forest along Machakos wote road and he reported the same to chief Kivani who later informed OCS Mukuyuni police station.
The dead body was tied hands and legs together and put in a green nylon sack and thrown at ditch about 500 meters from the Makongo forest view point.
“The body was taken to Makueni county Referral hospital morgue for preservation and identification,” court heard.
Detectives from the homicide team DCI headquarters took up the investigations after the dead body was discovered and identified as to be of the missing British national who as in country to attend conference.
The body was identified by David Hornus Crisis consultant who came to Kenya on behalf of FICO Company and deceased family in London, on the 24th day of February 2025.
The post mortem was done on the 27 day of February 2025 by Dr Richard Njoroge and Dr. Samuel Omuok government pathologists whose opinion on the deceased of death was to be ascertained after toxicology and histology.
Samples were taken during the autopsy for DNA, toxicology and histology analysis, the homicide team has interviewed several witnesses on the last movements of the deceased and confirmed that he jetted in the country on the 15th day of February 2025 and was booked in at JW Marriott Hotel Westlands.
The preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased person was taken to pipeline at a house belonging to Kithuka where it is believed the deceased person was murdered and body disposed of in Makongo forest.
The preliminary investigations reveal that after there were several successful and attempts of withdrawal of money from deceased persons account within Nairobi, Voi and Mombasa.
Kithuka and Nzioki were involved and both arrested on the 1st day of March 2025 along Nairobi Machakos road.
“The respondents continued stay in police cells without an order of the court will contravene their Constitutional Right and releasing them will jeopardize investigation owing to the seriousness of the case and the fact that investigations are ongoing for the recovery of the handset and the other simcard in view of arresting other suspects who are connected to the heinous act,” court heard.
