A senior cleric has been charged with stealing more than Sh23 million meant for development of the church.
Daniel Bushebi Munalo, a senior pastor at World of Life Centre Church and Ministries was presented before a Nairobi court over the theft.
He denied the charge when he appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Dalpina Alego.
Munalo is accused of stealing the money that had been entrusted to him by the members of the church.
The charge stated that the money was meant for the purchase of a piece of land and for the running of the church’s operations.
It is alleged that he stole the money between 1 November 2019 and 9 August, 2021, at an unknown place within the country, being an agent of the Word of Life centre.
The prosecution told the court that on 6th August, 2021 at the Eco Bank Plaza 2000, Nairobi County within, Munalo knowingly and fraudulently uttered a letter for change of account mandate for Word of Life Centre, Church and Ministries Eco Bank account no: 66280* and 6628* to the Eco Bank Plaza 2000 Branch Manager.
According to the charge tabled in court ,on 1 March, 2019, Munalo knowingly and fraudulently uttered a change of signatory mandate for the Word of Life Centre, Church and Ministries, an offence he allegedly committed on 22nd February, 2019, at Eco Bank West Minister Branch, Nairobi.
He was released on a cash bail of Sh.2 million.
