Equity Bank employee has been charged with stealing Sh.1.6 million from the Bank headquarters.
Geoffrey Okochil Itwan appeared before Milimani Magistrate Geofrey Onsarigo and denied stealing from the employer.
Prosecution told the court that on diverse dates between 12 February and May 2024, at Equity bank head office in Nairobi, being an employee of Equity Bank, stole Sh. 1,614,104 from Equity investment bank account number 13444 the property of Equity bank.
The charge sheet stated that on diverse dates between 12 February and May 2024, at unknown place within the country, otherwise than in the course of stealing, Itwan dishonestly received in his Mpesa account number 07979**** Sh. 1,614,104 knowingly or having reasons to believe to be stolen property.
He was released on a cash bail Sh.300,000 pending hearing and determination of the criminal case.
