A businessman has been charged with stealing his in-law’s motor vehicle, which he claims to have repossessed from his in-law after allegedly failing to pay him his debt.
Brian Juma Atoo appeared before Milimani Magistrate Geofrey Onsarigo and denied stealing the motor vehicle.
The court heard that on the 14th day of April, 2025, at Delemare Flats parking yard along Milimani Road in Nairobi City within Nairobi, he stole a motor vehicle registration number KDD **3Y, a Toyota Prado white in colour, valued at Sh.5.8 million, being the property of Elizabeth Anyango Oketch.
The charge sheet stated that, on 14th of April, 2025, at Delemare Flats parking yard along Milimani Road in Nairobi City, Atoo stole two rack mount servers of make PowerEdge R750xs, all valued at Sh.2.8 million, the property of his in-law Oketch.
He is further accused that on the 14th of April, 2025, at Diamond Homes Apartment basement II, along Othaya Road in Kileleshwa within Nairobi City, otherwise than in the course of stealing, dishonestly retained a motor vehicle registration number KDD **3Y, Toyota Prado white in colour, valued at Sh.5.8 million, knowing or having reasons to believe it to be a stolen property.
Atoo told the court the complainant is his in-law who owes him millions of shillings and she gave him the car as security pending clearance of the debt.
He was released on a cash bail pending trial.
