Three businessmen have been charged in a Nairobi court with illegally refilling gas cylinders without authority from the brand owners.

Appearing before Milimani Senior Resident Jane Kamau, the trio Alex Ndirangu Muturi, Vincent Arabia and George Kimani Njuguna denied the charges leveled against them by the state.

Prosecution alleges that the three were found filling 3 pieces of 6kgs LPG cylinders of Total, 2 pieces of 6kgs cylinder of Tosha gas, 1 piece 13kgs cylinder of E-gas, 1 piece 6kgs cylinder of K-gas, 1 piece 13kgs cylinder of EDA gas and 17 pieces 6kgs cylinders of EDA gas without authority from the brand owners.

They are alleged to have committed the offence on November 9, 2020 at Kendal Energy Solutions Company Limited storage and filling facility along Limuru road, Kiambu county.

Njuguna alone is charged with transporting liquefied Petroleum Gas without a valid licence from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh 100,000 each.
