Two senior employees of Equity Bank have been charged with stealing Sh4 million.

Elijah Ndungu Gachanja and Kevin Omato Manwa appeared before Milimani Magistrate Rose Ndombi where they denied the theft charges.

The charge sheet stated that the pair conspired, jointly with others not before the court, to steal the money on or before 3 November 2025, at unknown place and time in the country.

It was further alleged that they committed the offence at the bank’s Westland’s Branch in Nairobi.

The duo were the lender’s Githurai branch relationship officer-operations and relationship supervisor-customer service respectively and the money allegedly came into their possession by virtue of their employment.

They were released on a cash bail of Sh400,000.
