A Wiper party Member of Parliament has been charged with Fraud.
Kitui Rural MP Charles Mutisya Nyamai, who had a pending warrant of arrest, presented himself in court today may 10 where he denied charges of obtaining 706 building poles worth Sh7 million from a businessman.
The Mp was charged with obtaining the goods from businessman Elijah Kimani of Gamu Wood Work.
It is alleged that he issued a bad cheque for the payment of the goods.
According to prosecution, the MP committed the offence on diverse dates between May 28, 2014 and June 3, 2014 in Nairobi County.
The lawmaker was released on bond of Sh500, 000 with a surety of a similar amount.
The MP’s lawyer, Mr Nicholas Kamwendwa told the court that his client is negotiating for an out of court settlement with the complainant.
The magistrate directed the case be mentioned in two weeks.
