Kenyatta University student has been charged with impersonating Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet and Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Ndegwa Muhoro.

John Kibowen Cheboiwo, a computer science student is said to have opened a false Facebook account in the name of Mr Muhoro and defrauded unsuspecting Kenyans off over Sh500,000.

The student preying on unsuspecting Kenyans made them believe that he ‘DCI’ would fast-track investigations on their cases.

In yet another charge, Cheboiwo is accused of falsely representing himself like Mr Boinnet by opening a Facebook account in the name of the police boss.

He was released on a Sh300,000 bond.

Proceedings resume August 8.
