The Law Society of Kenya want the government to produce a lawyer who went missing after representing a client in Mavoko law courts.

Lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josphat Mwendwa and a taxi driver Mr Joseph Muiruri went missing moments after they participated in a traffic brutality case where an Administration Police officer is the accused.

A petition has been filed today at Milimani law courts a day after a group of lawyers marched to the Inspector General’s office demanding to know the whereabouts of their missing colleague, his client and a taxi driver.

In documents filed at the court, the society argues that the three people who include lawyer Kimani,  his client Mwendwa and tax driver Muiruri mysteriously disappeared on the 23rd of June this year after participating in a traffic case no. 1650 of 2016 at Mavoko Law Courts in Machakos County.

Attorney General, Director of public prosecution, Inspector General of Police and Safaricom Limited have been named as respondents in the case.

The lawyers’ body further claims that the trio disappearance is seen to be a result of abduction by an administration officer, a senior sergeant based at Mavoko police station.

“This case is befitting for urgent intervention by this court,’’ LSK argues.

Lawyers in Nairobi on Wednesday stormed the office of Inspector-General of police Joseph Boinnet to demand the whereabouts of their colleague who went missing last week.

The lawyers arrived at Jogoo House chanting “produce lawyer Willie.” They wore purple ribbons as a symbol of their protest.

The lawyers have cautioned that they will keep demonstrating to Mr Boinnet’s office until the whereabouts of their colleague is known.

Mr Boinnet had earlier in the day denied claims that the police are responsible for the disappearance of the three.
