A government decision to deregister American NGO has been overturned by the courts.
This is pending the hearing and determination of a suit filed by political activist Okiya Omutata.
Mr Omutata argues that IFES is a company and not an NGO.
He told the court that NGO boss Fazul Mohammed has no competence to issue such directives and he is knowingly misusing his office to disparage and destroy IFES as he has done in the past with other organizations.
“The impunged actions of the respondents thorugh Fazul Mohamed has a direct bearing on the conduct of the general election set to be held next year,’’states Omutata
In a certificate of urgency filed today Omutata says that the actions by the NGO board violates the bill of rights and has no basis at all.
