The Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett says the crackdown on terror in the country is bearing fruit.

He praised the multi-agency approach adopted by Kenya’s security agencies in tackling terror.

The IG also noted that the coordination of security operations between various security agencies including National Police Service, National Intelligence Service, Kenya Defence Forces as well as other national security agencies had tremendously improved the security situation in the country.

He said this while on a visit to Mandera County, where he met officers from various National Security agencies as well as officials from the National and County Governments.

Boinnet also dismissed assertions that Mandera County was a hotbed of terror.

The Inspector General also toured the ongoing construction of the perimeter wall along the Kenya-Somali border.

“The effect of the peace being enjoyed in Mandera is being felt across the country and the government supports the cohesive working spirit we have adopted in defeating our common enemy,” he said.

Accompanying the Inspector General was Kenya Police Director of Operations Benson Kibue, General Service Unit Commandant Stephen Chelimo as well as other senior officers from the National Police Service.
