A warrant of arrest has been issued against blogger Cyprian Nyakundi.
He is to face punishment for repeatedly smearing Safaricom boss Bob Collymore name on social media.
“A warrant of arrest is hereby issued against Nyakundi. It is to be enforced and he be brought to court for sentencing,” Justice Lucy Njuguna said
Nyakundi has skipped court three times in a row.
Justice Njuguna found him guilty last year December 1for disobeying orders forbidding him from publishing offending articles about Mr Collymore.
Nyakundi had also made a personal undertaking in court to stop maligning him. This is the last time he appeared in court.
Mr Collymore is seeking orders to have Nyakundi committed to civil jail for six months for disobeying an injunction issued on July 18, last year, blocking him from publishing defamatory articles concerning corruption in the media industry in Kenya.
The blogger reportedly carried the offending story on August 1, last year, and refused to apologize or withdraw it.
Justice Mwihaki Njuguna observed that the integrity of the judicial process was likely to be undermined after Mr Collymore complained that Nyakundi has repeatedly posted tweets on his personal platform in total disregard of court sanctions.
However, Nyakundi claimed it was unprocedural to introduce new evidence on a matter that was pending adjudication.
