The electoral body wants the court to dismiss a case challenging a tender award to audit firm KPMG for the audit of voters register.

IEBC through lawyer Wambua Kilonzo says all the key stakeholders were consulted and that the opposing, which is currently challenging the tender award, did not raise any objections at the consultative meetings stage.

In its response the commission says that it complied with the Elections Laws Amendment Act No. 36 of 2016 to the extent applicable to the audit of the register of voters.
“The commission did not breach or go against the ec-parte Applicant legitimate expectations, “states IEBC.
The electoral body says CORD has not demonstrated  that it has suffered or there is likelihood that it will suffer any injury in future  as a consequence of the impugned decision ,it cannot purport to seek  courts protection on unfolded allegations.
In the main case Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) moved to court challenging the decision to award KPMG the tender.
The audit is meant to authenticate genuine voters in the register by weeding out ghost voters who may include names of the dead, the underage and double registration.
