After Governors were restrained from flying the National flag on their cars, a lawyer has been flying the flag on his vehicle.

James Mjonjo Mue is accused that on May 10 along Harambee avenue Nairobi, he flew the national flag on a motor vehicle Toyota Rav 4 without authority from the Ministry of Interior and Coordination.

The prosecutor further accuses him that on the same day at Harambee house along harambee avenue, he used threatening behavior namely throwing a wooden box containing Sh850 coins while driving a motor vehicle Rav with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.

Lawyers Julie Soweto and Harun Ndubi for the lawyer urged the court to release the accused on personal bond since he is a high court advocate.

Court was informed that Mr Mue is a senior programmes officer with Kenyans for Peace, Truth and Justice (KPTJ) and cannot abscond bail.

According to the prosecution, the police need three days to photograph the vehicle before releasing it to the accused but the defense lawyers termed prosecution statement as unreasonable.

“I have considered submissions by both accused and prosecution and hereby release the accused person on a personal bond of Sh 200,000” ordered Magistrate Cherioyot.
