Nairobi Anti-corruption Magistrate Court has sentenced two junior employees of EACC for soliciting a bribe of shilling over 100,000 from Nairobi business lady in the year 2014.
The two convicts Felix Nzomo Mutinda and Fredrick Marembo Omanya were ordered to pay fines amounting to sh 800,000 or serve one year imprisonment each.
The two were found guilty by Senior Principal Magistrate Felix Kombo of soliciting for a bribe and receiving a benefit from business woman Judith Kashemi Omuonyi as an inducement so as to have her company disqualified on the list of pre-qualified suppliers for the commission for the financial year 2014,2015 a matter relating to the affairs of the said public body.
Mutinda alone was found guilty of receiving sh 100,000 from Kashem through his Mpesa so as to cancel an LPO for the supply of cameras to EACC on April 3 ,2014.
Omanyi was found to have received sh 28,000 from an agent of Kashem on July 15,2014.
