Diamond Trust Bank Eastleigh Branch Manager Sophia Njoki Mbogo who among suspects being investigated over terrorism related offences over Dusit Complex terror attack

Diamond Trust Bank Eastleigh Branch Manager linked to Dusit D2 terror attack has strongly opposed application by prosecution to detain her for 30 days over alleged links with Dusit complex terror attack.

The bank manager Sophia Njoki Mbogo, she says that she is innocent bystander in a criminal enquiry and she has no connections terror suspects Hassan Abdi Nur , Ismael Sadiq Abitham , Ali Khamidi Ali, Abdinoor Maalim Osmali and Abdullahi Muhumed Hassan who are being investigated over terrorism related offences.

While opposing the prosecution application, Sophia also said she is a widow and a mother of two and the records to be sought by investigators are in the bank custody and Safaricom Limited where they are safely stored.

Sophia said she was not in is position to interfered with investigations or evidence sought by prosecution and the investigators has no compelling reason for her detention.

She claimed Hassan Abdi Nur operates an M-pesa business and is a registered M-pesa Till owner with Safaricom limited.

she further claims that the agreement entered between banks in Kenya and Safaricom limited the banks act as super agents and the mobile service provider agents granting access to float on its behalf to registered safaricom Mpesa agents.

According to the court documents, the agents received the cash that was later withdrawn at the Diamond Trust Bank, Eastleigh branch before it was later wired to Somalia.

Nur is said to have received the money using two handsets where he inserted the SIM cards and made calls to Somalia immediately after receiving the cash.

The suspect, who also ran a tour firm, was arrested along Waiyaki Way in Westlands on Tuesday.
