AMERICAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING A DCI OFFICER.

A senior officer with Redavia Kenya Limited was on Friday charged with creating disturbance in a Nairobi Hotel.

Alex Harpe who is an american national appeared before Milimani law court’s and denied a charged of creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by threatening and chasing away the receptionists at Azure hotel in Kileleshwa, Nairobi.

Harpe is alleged to have committed the offence on 14th October 2019.

The accused is further charged with assaulting a police officer by the name Duncan Kiprono occasioning him actual bodily harm at the same hotel.

Harpe denied the offence before Senior Resident Magistrate Helen Onkwani.

The prosecution objected to his release on bail on grounds that he is at flight risk and might abscond the jurisdiction of the court since he is a foreigner with no fixed place of abode.

The court heard that the foreigner, who is a senior official at the said company is being investigated for other offences.

His lawyers, however, told the court that their client is an employee of the said company and has a fixed place of abode.

The lawyer furnished the court with a letter from the company confirming the same therefore not at flight risk.

The victims lawyer Felix Kiprono supported prosecution application saying the accused is at flight risk and should be denied bail pending hearing and determination of the criminal case.

The court will deliver its bail ruling on October 30.

However the accused was remanded in custody

The is also said to have allegedly threatened to kill officer who went to arrest him.
