Two suspects linked to the murder of businessman Kevin Omwenga will remain in custody until Tuesday, August 25.

This is after Kibera Principal Magistrate Derrick Kuto detained Chris Philip Obure and his alleged bodyguard Robert John Ouko Bodo for one more day awaiting his ruling on whether to grant the states request to continue holding them for another two weeks.

In an affidavit filed in court by detectives from Kilimani Directorate of Criminal investigations urged the court to allow them to detain the suspects for another 14 days as they have not concluded the probe.

The court heard that the two were arrested on Saturday and booked at Kilimani Police station after the shooting incidence was reported at Galana Suites within kilimani area.

According to investigating office SGT Bashir Boya, preliminary investigation reveals that the deceased was requested by Ouko that he wanted to go home after having dinner at deceased house then both the deceased and Ouko went into the bedroom.

Boya also told the court that he is yet to record statements from the key witnesses, taking of finger prints, photo profiling, taking the suspects for DNA sampling for analysis by the government chemist, taking the them for mental assessment , taking the firearm to the ballistic expert to obtain records of firearm from the central firearm bureau , to retrieve CCTV fooitage from the scene of crime , to obtain footage from IC-3 showing the movement of the motor vehicle that was used by Uoko and the deceased among others.

The investigating officer sought to have the two detained at Kilimani and Kileleshwa police stations as they concluded the probe.

Ouko led the officers to a Senteu plaza where a firearm loaded with 13 rounds of ammunation was recovered at Glo-jet offices and it is part of exhibit.

The officer told the court that the continued detention of the two suspects is immensely necessary for furtherance and finalizing if the investigations and their release could further lead to interference with investigations.

After some minutes a loud sound similar to gunshot was heard from the bedroom of the deceased and Ouko came out hurriedly and requested that he wanted to rush somewhere but was restrained by the nephew of the deceased while another went to the bedroom of the deceased to see what might had happened only to see the deceased lying on the floor holding his chest and blood oozing from there.

The deceased was rushed to Nairobi Women hospital Hurlingham where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
