Four men have been charged with obtaining over Sh29 million from a doctor by pretending they could sell him gold.
Arthur Caleb Otieno Agutu, George Kinuthia Mbugua, Eric Otieno Odinya and Antony Ochieng Ngeso are accused that jointly with others not before court, with intent to defraud, obtained from Dr Ali Raza a sum of Sh29,956,000.
The four purported to be in a position to sell to him some 11.9 kilograms of pure gold, a fact they knew to be false.
The court heard that they committed the offence on diverse dates between March 2018 and December 2020 at Landmark Suites in Westlands, Nairobi.
The accused persons denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Charles Mwaniki, who ordered them to deposit bond of Sh15 million and one surety a similar amount, each, to secure their release.
