COVID-19 ALLEGED WHISTLERBLOWER CHARGED WITH OBTAINING MONEY AND ABDUCTION.

Godwin Agutu CEO of Network Action Against Corruption and one of the alleged whistleblowers in the Covid-19 millionaires exposé have been charged with abduction, obtaining money and impersonation.

Appearing before Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate David Ndungi, Agutu was charged alongside his Personal Assistant Ken Kimathi and driver Alex Mutuku.

They denied charges of abduction, impersonation,stealing of motor vehicle, using vehicle registration number plates with intent to deceive and forgeries

The prosecution alleges September 25,this year at Hytech Investment shop along Kombo Munyiri road in Nairobi county, the accused persons jointly with others not before court they falsely presented themselves as employees of Kenya Revenue Authority and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to Vijay Patel the proprietor of Hytech Investment shop.

The three were also charged that on the same dates in Nairobi county at Westlands estate the three jointly with others not before court with intent to defraud, obtained Sh 500, 000 from Vijay Patel by falsely pretending they were from KRA and in position to assist him in reducing the amount he owed the taxman.

Court further heard that the three on September 28, this year at Hytech Investment Shop along Kombo Munyiri road in Nairobi county jointly with others not before court abducted and detained Patel.

They are also charged with forgery and using a judiciary motor vehicle registration number GKB 070B during their illegal activities at Hytech Investment.

Magistrate Ndungi ordered the trio to be released on a bond of Sh500, 000 and cash bail of Sh 100, 000 pending hearing and determination of their criminal case.

The three were on Wednesday arraigned in court by detectives seeking to detain them to enable complete investigations.
